At the Institute of Analysis and Scientific Computing TU Wien is offering a position as university assistant prae-doc (all genders) in Prof. Jens Markus Melenk's Computational Mathematics research group limited to expected 4 years for 30 hours/week. Expected start: April 2026.
Tasks:
- Collaboration on research and teaching tasks as well as examinations
- Cooperation and guidance of students
- Research and project activity
- Writing a dissertation and publications
- Participation in scientific events
- Assistance/Collaboration in organizational and administrative tasks
Your profile:
- Completion of a master or diploma curriculum inmathematics or related field
- Experience in the numerical analysis of FEM. A plus is prior knowledge in research areas of the workgroup such as wave propagation, boundary element methods, elliptic regularity theory
- Very good skills in German and English communication and writing; in any case, the successful candidate must learn German within the first 18 months of employment, since major part of the teaching duties is in German
- Interest in research in the field as well as supervision and work with students
- Very good communicative skills and team competences and innovative ability

Entry level salary is determined by the pay grade B1 of the Austrian collective agreement for university staff. This is a minimum of currently EUR 2,832.10/month gross, 14 times/year for 30 hours/week. Relevant working experiences may increase the monthly income.
