At the Institute of Materials Chemistry, in the Research Unit of Molecular Materials Chemistry TU Wien is offering a position as senior scientist (all genders) for 40 hours/week.
Tasks:
- General Lab Management
- Physisorption and chemisorption of porous inorganic and hybrid materials
- Characterization using spectroscopic techniques (NMR, UV-VIS-NIR, FTIR, PL/TRES)
- Effective utilization of laboratory instrumentation by coordinating usage (scheduling, documentation, cost management), training and supervising new users, assisting with measurements and data interpretation, organizing software and hardware updates, as well as regular maintenance and calibration
- Initiatives for acquiring complementary equipment as part of conceptual development (requesting and evaluating quotes)
- Potential involvement in fundamental, applied, and contract research projects
- Advancement of analytical methods for characterizing porous materials
- Teaching activities, especially designing and participating in lab courses and their technical advancement
- Supervision of students
Your profile:
- PhD in Technical Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field
- Experience as a Laboratory Manager
- In-depth knowledge and experience in characterizing porous and nanostructured materials
- Solid technical expertise in physisorption and chemisorption analysis, demonstrated through advanced workshops
- Experience in photoluminescence spectroscopy and time-resolved emission spectroscopy, as well as other characterization techniques (e.g., TGA/DSC, FTIR, XRD, UV-VIS-NIR)
- Proven ability to manage and maintain advanced analytical instruments
- Experience coordinating research infrastructure and training users
- High scientific expertise in adsorption and characterization of porous materials, demonstrated through publications
- International research experience and networking
- Interest in and enthusiasm for working with students
- Teamwork and problem-solving skills

Entry level salary is determined by the pay grade B1 of the Austrian collective agreement for university staff. This is a minimum of currently EUR 4,932.90/month gross, 14 times/year for 40 hours/week. Relevant working experiences may increase the monthly income.
