University Assistant Post-Doc (all genders)

40 hours/week | limited to 4 years

At the Institute of Mechanics and Mechatronics, in the Research Unit of Technical Dynamics and Vehicle System Dynamics, a position as University Assistant (female, Post-Doc) limited to expected 4 years for 40 hours/week. Expected start: August 2025.

Tasks:

  • Conducting scientific research within our research team - Investigation of physically based machine learning methods for modelling/parameterisation and control/observation of dynamic systems Technical Dynamics, particularly in Mechanics
  • Independent teaching or participation in teaching in 
  • Supervising students
  • Submitting research proposals
  • Preparing scientific publications
  • Presenting at scientific conferences
  • Supporting organizational and administrative tasks

Your profile:

  • Completed doctoral degree in mechanical engineering or a related field with relevance to Technical Dynamics
  • Excellent knowledge of solid body mechanics
  • Strong expertise in software development for embedded systems
  • In-depth knowledge of vehicle dynamics, multibody dynamics, and control engineering
  • Experience in setting up measurement systems for experiments and analyzing results
  • Experience in university-level teaching and student supervision
  • Experience in independently preparing scientific publications
  • Excellent command of German and English
  • Interest in research within the field and in working with students
  • Strong teamwork, problem-solving skills, and innovativeness

Entry level salary is determined by the pay grade B1 of the Austrian collective agreement for university staff. This is a minimum of currently EUR 4,932.90/month gross, 14 times/year for 40 hours/week. Relevant working experiences may increase the monthly income.
