University Assistant Prae-Doc (all genders)

30 hours/week | limited to 4 years

At the Institute of Mechanics and Mechatronics, in the research area of Technical Dynamics and Vehicle Dynamics, a position as University Assistant (Pre-Doc, 30 hours per week) is to be filled, expected to start in August 2025, for a fixed term of four years, with the following responsibilities.

 

Tasks:

  • Conducting scientific research within our research team
  • Contributing to university teaching and examinations - in subjects related to Technical Dynamics, particularly Mechanics
  • Supervising students
  • Writing scientific publications as well as a dissertation in the field of Technical Dynamics and Vehicle Dynamics
  • Giving presentations at scientific conferences
  • Assisting with organizational and administrative tasks

Your profile:

  • Completed Master's or Diploma degree in Mechanical Engineering or related fields with a focus on Technical Dynamics
  • Excellent knowledge in solid body mechanics
  • In-depth knowledge of vehicle dynamics, multibody dynamics, and contact modelling
  • Experience in writing scientific publications
  • Interest and experience in numerical simulation and practical experimentation
  • Excellent German and English language skills
  • Interest in research within the field and in working with students
  • Teamwork skills, problem-solving competence, and innovative thinking

Entry level salary is determined by the pay grade B1 of the Austrian collective agreement for university staff. This is a minimum of currently EUR 2,786.10/month gross, 14 times/year for 30 hours/week. Relevant working experiences may increase the monthly income.
