At the Institute of Geotechnics, in the Research Unit of Engineering Geology TU Wien is offering a position as university assistant (prae-doc) limited to expected 4 years for 30 hours/week. Expected start: March 2025.
Tasks:
- Collaboration on research and teaching tasks as well as examinations
- Cooperation and guidance of students
- Research and project activity
- Writing a dissertation and publications
- Participation in scientific events
- Assistance/Collaboration in organizational and administrative tasks
Your profile:
- Degree in a relevant Master's or Diploma program
- Skills in scientific work
- Advanced knowledge in the field of numerical modeling (FD + FEM methods) of geotechnical problems (landslides, tunneling, etc.) and/or geological processes (e.g. runout processes)
- Knowledge in the field of rock mechanics and engineering geology. CAD skills and experience in working with digital terrain models
- Very good skills in German and English communication and writing
- Interest in research in the field as well as supervision and work with students
- Very good communicative skills and team competences and innovative ability

Entry level salary is determined by the pay grade B1 of the Austrian collective agreement for university staff. This is a minimum of currently EUR 2,786.10/month gross, 14 times/year for 30 hours/week. Relevant working experiences may increase the monthly income.
