Projectmanager (all genders) - IT and Data Management
Part-time (20 hours/week) | indefinite-term

In the services of the Institute of Applied Physics, TU Wien is offering a position as Projectmanager (all genders) - IT and Data Management for 20 hours per week. The position is expected to start in February 2025 and will involve supporting the institute with innovative solutions in data management and IT workflows, contributing to ongoing scientific projects, and collaborating with both internal teams and the broader TU Wien community.
Tasks:
- Development, implementation and continuous improvement of data management with a focus on scientific data processing using FAIR principles in all phases of the research data lifecycle
- Conducting requirements analyses for new data management processes and creating and implementing processes to increase efficiency in data management through to system architecture, design, implementation, testing and delivery of reusable components
- Ensuring data quality and contributing to the creation of technical documentation including IT processes
- Contributing to the maintenance, optimisation and further development of servers and existing features at TU Wien and the Institute of Applied Physics
- Supporting and advising project teams in the implementation of requirements with regard to data and IT architecture relevance
- Active participation in the TU Wien Community and the Cluster of Excellence MECS
Your profile:
- PhD-level training in a natural science, ideally with hands-on experience on scientific programming or data management (e.g. pilot data management projects projects)
- Initial experience in IT development and scientific data management or development and controls of scientific instrumentation, with a solid understanding of tools and methods for process and software development (e.g., JIRA, GitHub, GitLab, Python programming, and IT security)
- Proficiency in object-oriented programming, particularly in Python, with a strong focus on scientific applications
- Ideally, familiarity with university structures and processes, particularly in the context of research and scientific collaboration.
- Experience or familiarity with implementing the FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable) principles in data management
- Strong digital competencies, analytical skills, and an ability to work with complex data systems and workflows
- Strong organizational skills and experience in planning and managing projects.
- Willingness to collaborate effectively with diverse teams
- Resourceful and resilient, with a proactive attitude towards problem-solving and taking responsibility
- High level of professionalism, customer orientation, and communication skills, with the ability to address and resolve conflicts
- Open to self-reflection and committed to personal and professional development

Entry level salary is determined by the level IVA of the Austrian collective agreement for university staff. This is a minimum of currently EUR 1,695,15/month gross, 14 times/year for 20 hours/week. Relevant working experiences may increase the monthly income.
