Senior Scientist (all genders)

At the Department of Geodesy and Geoinformation, in the Research Unit of Geophysics TU Wien is offering a position as senior scientist (all genders) for 20 hours/week.

Tasks:

  • Independent research work in Geophysics
  • Independent teaching of courses and holding of examinations, with a focus on the disciplines of Geophysical Data Science and Near-surface Seismic methods and applications,
  • Supervision of students
  • Preparation of research proposals for grant submissions
  • Engage in the working of ongoing research activities and the management of projects or working groups
  • Writing of publications in high-impact journals
  • Participation in organizational and administrative tasks as well as in evaluation measures of the research division and the faculty
  • Management of data and software repositories
  • Participation and organization of scientific conferences and workahops

 

Your profile:

  • Completion of an appropriate doctorate in the field of Geophysics
  • Knowledge of scientific work as well as excellent specialist knowledge in the theory and application of active and passive seismic, electrical and electromagnetic geophysical methods
  • In-depth knowledge of the subject area of Geophysical Data Science and Inverse Theory
  • Interdisciplinary work
  • Experience in teaching and publication activities
  • Organizational and analytical skills as well as a structured way of working
  • Excellent knowledge of German (language of instruction), very good knowledge of English
  • Interest and pleasure in research and work/support with students
  • Teamwork and problem-solving skills

Entry level salary is determined by the pay grade B1 of the Austrian collective agreement for university staff. This is a minimum of currently EUR 2,507.20/month gross, 14 times/year for 20 hours/week. Relevant working experiences may increase the monthly income.
