At the Institute of Chemical, Environmental and Bioscience Engineering, in the Research Group for Catalysis Design and Reaction Engineering TU Wien is offering a position as university assistant prae-doc (all genders) limited to expected 4 years for 30 hours/week. Expected start: May 2026.
Tasks:
- Research on heterogeneous catalysts for sustainable production of fuels and chemicals, with emphasis on electrification strategies for catalytic reactors
- Characterization of catalytic materials
- Performing kinetic studies in lab scale test reactors and derivation of reaction mechanisms
- Experiment planning and data evaluation
- Participation and handling of courses in English and German
- Supervision of interns, BSc and MSc students
- Creation of scientific publications and presentations
- Writing of a PhD dissertation
Your profile:
- Relevant, completed diploma or master’s degree in chemical engineering, technical chemistry or physicalchemistry (focus on catalysis) or an equivalent university degree in Austria or abroad.
- Laboratory experience in the field of reaction kinetics, synthesis and characterization of nanomaterials
- Experience with IR spectroscopy and gas analysis through gas chromatography
- Willingness to support interns, BSc and MSc students.
- Excellent command of English in speaking and writing
- Good command of German or at least willingness to acquire sufficient command of German to perform laband teaching duties

Entry level salary is determined by the pay grade B1 of the Austrian collective agreement for university staff. This is a minimum of currently EUR 2,832.10/month gross, 14 times/year for 30 hours/week. Relevant working experiences may increase the monthly income.
