University Assistant Post-Doc (all genders)

At the Institute of Mechatronics and Power Electronics, Mechatronic Systems Group, TU Wien is offering a position as university assistant post-doc (all genders) with expeted starting date in March 2026 (40 hours/week, limited to expected 6 years).
Tasks:
- Participation in research and teaching activities in the field of electrical drive systems and power electronics as well as examinations in these subject areas
- Supervision of students in the field of electrical drive systems and power electronics
- Research and project work in the areas of current-source and voltage-source converters for drive systems, as well as modeling of wide-bandgap (WBG) power semiconductor devices
- Leadership of project groups in the field of wireless power transfer for rotating and moving targets
- Deepening scientific expertise and expanding research activities in the area of advanced modulation schemes for power electronic converters
- Preparation of scientific publications
- Participation in scientific events
- Participation in organizational and administrative tasks of the research division and the faculty
Your profile:
- Completion of a doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Physics with a specialization in drive systems, power electronics, or control engineering
- In-depth knowledge in one or preferably several of the following areas is considered an advantage: wide-bandgap (WBG) semiconductors, modulation methods, drive system control, grid-connected drive systems, dual-active-bridge (DAB) converters, digital control, multi-objective optimization, wireless power transfer
- Knowledge of scientific working methods, strong mathematical foundations, excellent knowledge in electrical engineering and an interest in physics, as well as solid expertise in PCB layout design for power electronics and VHDL modulation and control implementations
- Existing experience in working with and leading a scientific team, in conducting and managing research projects, and in publishing activities is considered an advantage
- Didactic skills and enthusiasm for teaching and working with students
- Excellent command of English in speaking and writing, and willingness to learn German
- Ability to work in a team, strong problem-solving competence, and innovative mindset
- Experience in project management and in giving presentations
- Organisational and analytical skills as well as a structured working approach

Entry level salary is determined by the pay grade B1 of the Austrian collective agreement for university staff. This is a minimum of currently EUR 4,932.90/month gross, 14 times/year for 40 hours/week. Relevant working experiences may increase the monthly income.
