University Assistant Prae-Doc (all genders)

30 hours/week | limited to 4 years

The Institute of Production Engineering and Photonic Technologies, in the Production Technology research group, TU Wien is offering a position as university assistant prae-doc (all genders) limited to expected 4 years for 30 hours/week. Expected start: March 2026.

Tasks:

  • Research work on the experimental and model-based optimisation of machining processes
  • Development of modelling methods for the machining process
  • Cooperation in national and international research projects and industrial collaborations
  • Preparation of research proposals in the research topic
  • Writing a dissertation and publications
  • Support for teaching tasks and examinations
  • Supervision of students
  • Participation in scientific events
  • Collaboration in organisational and administrative tasks

Your profile:

  • Completion of a master or diploma curriculum in a relevant field
  • Knowledge of scientific work
  • Experience in the following scientific fields desirable: production engineering
  • Very good skills in German (B2) and English (B2) communication and writing
  • Interest in research in the field of production technology and in working with students
  • Ability to work in a team, problem-solving skills and innovative ability

Entry level salary is determined by the pay grade B1 of the Austrian collective agreement for university staff. This is a minimum of currently EUR 2,786.10/month gross, 14 times/year for 30 hours/week. Relevant working experiences may increase the monthly income.
