University Assistant Prae-Doc (all genders)

At the Institute of Information Systems Engineering, in the Research Unit of Data Science TU Wien is offering a position as university assistant prae-doc (all genders) limited to expected 1 year for 20 hours/week. Expected start: January 2026.

This position is assigned to the fuTUre fit project “KI Assistant (TUna) – Study & Teaching Companion”. The TUna project develops an AI-based study and teaching companion for students and teachers at TU Wien that integrates multiple university information systems into a single, chat-based assistant.

Tasks:

  • Collaboration on research and teaching tasks as well as examinations
  • Cooperation and guidance of students
  • Research and project activity
  • Writing a dissertation and publications
  • Participation in scientific events
  • Collaboration in organizational and administrative tasks

Your profile:

  • Completion of a master or diploma curriculum in one of these fields: Business Informatics or Data Science
  • Skillful and responsible in experimental work
  • Experience in the scientific fields of (conversational) recommender systems and user modeling
  • Knowledge of DevOps, system administration and modular software architectures as well as programming skills (e.g. in Python) is an advantage
  • Project management experience in a university environment involving IT projects, as well as experience in student advising (e.g. HTU Vienna; knowledge of advising services at TU Wien is an advantage) is an advantage
  • Very good skills in German and English communication and writing
  • Interest in research in the field as well as supervision and work with students
  • Very good communicative skills and team competences and innovative ability

Entry level salary is determined by the pay grade B1 of the Austrian collective agreement for university staff. This is a minimum of currently EUR 1,857.40/month gross, 14 times/year for 20 hours/week. Relevant working experiences may increase the monthly income.
