University Assistant Post-Doc (all genders)

At the Institute of Urban Design and Landscape Architecture, in the Research Unit of Landscape Architecture and Landscape Planning TU Wien is offering a position as university assistant (post-doc) limited to expected 6 years for 20 hours/week. Expected start: October 2025.
Tasks:
- Specific teaching and research activities in the fields of: Theory and history of landscape architecture, open space and landscape planning
- Linking contemporary and historical topics in the research field
- Active involvement in an innovative research field that approaches urbanization as a profound, multidimensional, and eco-social process that goes far beyond the construction of cities and the urbanization of rural areas. See also: landscape-tuwien.at/leitbild/vision
- Innovative development of the above-mentioned topics and active contributions towards the vision and profile of the research unit and the faculty
- Implementation of research projects including the initiation, application and management of research projects
- Strategic positioning of the research unit within relevant professional, university and social discourses through the advancement and strengthening of theoretical approaches in landscape architecture
- Supporting research-led teaching or research-based learning
- Independent implementation and performance of teaching activities: including conception, organization and supervision of study projects in the Bachelor's and Master's degree courses (spatial planning and architecture), lectures, holding examinations, supervision of Bachelor's and Master's theses, seminars and excursions
- Implementation of research projects including their initiation, application and coordination. Scientific development of the above-mentioned topics and participation in the strategic program development of the faculty
- Publication work (scientific publications, scripts, editing)
- Support in the development and supervision of the research cluster (e.g., conferences and colloquia)
- Independent execution of organizational and administrative tasks, evaluation measures, and general support of the department
- Participation in committees, commissions, etc. at the research unit, institute and faculty level
- Expansion and support of international networks with other universities (in research and teaching)
Your profile:
- A completed domestic or equivalent foreign education with a doctoral degree (Ph.D.) appropriate to the position
- A relevant and meaningful research profile in the areas of: Theory and history of landscape architecture, open space and landscape planning
- Openness and willingness to participate in existing teaching formats, such as seminars and design projects
- Several years of professional experience in the university sector or at relevant research institutions, including supervision of bachelor's, master's and diploma theses
- Advanced technical and didactic skills to communicate teaching and research content
- Experience in science management, science communication and knowledge transfer, e.g. exhibition management
- Profound knowledge in project management and presentation, initiation, application, coordination and implementation of projects in research and teaching at home and abroad
- Active publication and lecture activity
- Experience in inter- and transdisciplinary work
- Very good organizational and analytical skills as well as a structured, goal-oriented way of working, including good time management skills
- High social competence (ability to work in a team, motivational skills, problem-solving skills as well as the ability to innovate and take the initiative)
- Excellent language skills in German and English

Entry level salary is determined by the pay grade B1 of the Austrian collective agreement for university staff. This is a minimum of currently EUR 2,466.50/month gross, 14 times/year for 20 hours/week. Relevant working experiences may increase the monthly income.
