University Assistant Prae-Doc (all genders)

30 hours/week | limited to 4 years

At the Institute of Statistics and Mathematical Methods in Economics, in the Research Unit of Risk Management in Financial and Actuarial Mathematics TU Wien is offering a position as university assistant prae-doc (all genders) limited to expected 4 years for 30 hours/week. Expected start: October 2025.

Tasks:

  • Research on mathematical finance leading to a dissertation and publications
  • Collaboration on research and teaching tasks
  • Participation in scientific events
  • Assistance/Collaboration in organizational and administrative tasksCooperation and guidance of students

Your profile:

  • Completion of a master or diploma curriculum in mathematics, or a related field (e.g., computer science or theoretical physics with a strong background in relevant mathematical topics) until the time of occupation
  • Experience in the following scientific fields: mathematical finance, probability theory, stochastic analysis
  • Good English skills
  • German skills would be an advantage

Entry level salary is determined by the pay grade B1 of the Austrian collective agreement for university staff. This is a minimum of currently EUR 2,786.10/month gross, 14 times/year for 30 hours/week. Relevant working experiences may increase the monthly income.
