University Assistant (PraeDoc)

30 hours/week | for 4 years

The Institute of Visual Computing and Human-Centered Technology, research unit Computer Graphics at TU Wien is offering a position as university assistant (prae-doc) in Biomedical Visualization and Visual Analytics for 4 years for 30 hours/week. Expected start: May 2021

Tasks:

  • Collaboration on research and teaching tasks as well as examinations
  • Cooperation and guidance of students
  • Research and project activity
  • Writing a dissertation and publications
  • Participation in scientific events
  • Assistance/Collaboration in organizational and administrative tasks 

Your profile:

  • Master or Diploma degree in Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Bioinformatics or equivalent university studies in Austria or abroad
  • Very good knowledge in (Biomedical) Visualization and Visual Analytics
  • Good programming skills (e.g., Python, C++)
  • Good communication skills and ability to work as an independent and flexible researcher in an international and diverse team
  • Being curious, creative, and enthusiastic about research
  • Teaching in German and English is expected
 
Ideally applicants are expected to have this additional Qualifications and Skills:
  • Interest or knowledge in (Biomedical) Image Analysis, Machine Learning and related frameworks (e.g., Scikit-Learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch)
  • Interest in supervising students

Entry level salary as a predoctoral researcher is covered by level B1 of the Austrian Collective Agreement for university staff, and receives a minimum of currently EUR 2.228,60/month gross, 14 times/year. Relevant working experiences may increase the monthly income.
